Creating instance reports

Report data is calculated based on the raw 5 m data sections.
important Only asphalt road surfaces are supported. For more information on how to create a road surface condition report of concrete roads (beta), see Creating concrete road surface condition reports (beta).

Use instance reports to see a list of distress, fixed distress or other parameter instances detected on the road and their approximate location. These reports are useful for estimating the size of individual instances (with a 5 m longitudinal resolution) and plan maintenance tasks, for example.

  1. The presence of an instance in adjacent 5 m section locations is reported.
  2. The reports show:
    • Length: Overall length of the adjacent 5 m sections where the instance is detected
    • Relative width: Average relative width of the instance on the adjacent sections where the instance is detected
    • Relative area (length x relative width): Instance area relative to the road width
  1. In the main menu, go to Data.
  2. In the toolbar, select Filters.
  3. Adjust the filters to include only a specific set of data in the report.
  4. In the toolbar, select Lists.
  5. Select Videos from the drop-down list.
  6. Select the videos by selecting the respective box at the beginning of the row.
tip To include all the videos, select Selection > Select all.
  7. Select Action > Create report.
    The Report type window opens.
  8. Select Instance report. Select Next.
  9. In the File format window, select a file format for the report. Select Next.
  10. In the Distance configuration window, select a distance unit. Select Next.
  11. In the Parameters window, select Road surface.  All the parameters under it in the hierarchy are selected as a result. If needed, modify the selection based on your goals and preferences. Select Next.
  12. In the Data validity window, select Defaults. The default filters are recommended for the most accurate data. Select Next.
important Road surface condition assessment only supported for asphalt roads.
  13. Select Next
  14. In the Additional options window, selecting:
    • Directional: determines if the report is calculated for both driving directions separately
    • Multiple drives: combines data from multiple drives to produce even more robust results. For both driving directions, up to three different drives can be used. The maximum time difference to the latest drive is two weeks.
    • Merge driving directions: combines data from opposite driving directions to create a more complete view on the road condition. The maximum time difference to the latest drive is two weeks. If disabled, only the latest data from either of the opposite driving directions, or both in the case of a directional report, is selected for each location.
  15. Select Create to create the report.
A confirmation message appears. You will get a notification in Notifications and an email with a download link when the report is ready.
