Cycleway and footway surveys can only be
done on asphalt surfaces.
When the driven lane mode is on, it is
important to drive on the cycleway or footway whenever it is available. Driving elsewhere,
like on a road, will affect the analysis, as the detections are included in the data. In
cases like this, using a network geometry file specifically drawn for cycleways and footways
helps to exclude any data that is not meant to be analyzed. For example, if the driver must
momentarily drive on another type of a road while surveying a cycleway, the data recorded on
it will be automatically discarded, as it cannot be attached to the cycleway-specific
network geometry.
On bi-directional cycleways where the lanes
are separated by a center line marking, RoadAI in the driven lane mode analyzes only one
lane at a time. Drive the lane which is the most representative of the condition of the
overall cycleway or footway. Switch between lanes if necessary and safe.
