Configuring recording device (recommended settings)

  1. In the phone settings, turn Bluetooth on if you have a Bluetooth button in use for recording annotations. Otherwise, turn it off.
  2. Turn sound notifications on to hear when recording starts and stops, when the Bluetooth button press is registered, and when a picture is taken.
Make sure the volume is high enough.
  3. To enable file upload, do one or both of the following options.
    1. Turn on Wi-Fi in the phone settings and connect to the network that you will use for file upload.
    2. If you are using a SIM card, enable the use of mobile data.
Optionally, disable the SIM card lock in the phone settings. If using a Samsung S22, go to Settings > Security and privacy > More security settings > SIM card security > Lock SIM card. If using a Pixel 7, go to Settings > Security & privacy > More security & privacy > SIM lock > Lock SIM.
  4. If you are planning to record audio notes while surveying, in RoadAI Mobile Application, go to Settings > Audio capture and select Audio is only captured when creating an annotation.
  5. If you are using a SIM card, you can optionally disable data upload over mobile data when recording to prevent overheating. In RoadAI Mobile Application, go to Settings > Connection > Upload while recording.
  6. In RoadAI Mobile Application, go to Settings > Connection > Continue uploading while in sleep mode and enable sleep mode upload by setting battery usage to unrestricted to continue uploading when the phone enters sleep mode and is not connected to a charger.
