Asphalt condition extended data overlay (beta)

The Asphalt condition extended data overlay is a new variant of the RoadAI Road surface condition data overlay calculation that takes into account additional distresses and fixes.

Additional distresses and fixes:

  • Deduct value curve for Longitudinal crack sealing and Transverse crack sealing
  • Deduct value curve for Block cracking
  • Deduct value curve for Wheel track cracking
  • Deduct value curve for Rutting

From the road surface condition calculation perspective, Block cracking and Transverse cracking are secondary distresses, meaning that:

  • They are calculated by post-processing the primary Longitudinal cracking, Transverse cracking and Alligator cracking detections
  • If the system detects Block cracking, the deduct value will boost the Longitudinal cracking, Transverse cracking and Alligator cracking detections according to the Block cracking curve. This means that the system adds up the deduct values of all the above distress types.
  • Similarly, if the system detects Longitudinal cracking and/or Alligator cracking on a wheel path, the Wheel track cracking deduct value will boost the Longitudinal cracking and/or Alligator cracking detections according to the Wheel track cracking deduct value curve.
    • If the cracking is detected on one of the four wheel paths, the extent is 25 %
    • If the cracking is detected on two of the four wheel paths, the extent is 50 %
    • If the cracking is detected on three of the four wheel paths, the extent is 75 %
    • If the cracking is detected on all four wheel paths, the extent is 100 %
